Pete Maclean.

Prize puzzle from the Weekend FT of April 25
A slightly more challenging Cincinnus puzzle than usual by my reckoning. I especially like 3D and 19D.

Across
1. INDIANAPOLIS – NAPOLI (Italian city) in INDIAS (another country’s)
10. OPIATES – PI (constant) in OATES (conspirator)
11. RETSINA – reverse hidden word
12. ELOPE – [pen]ELOPE
13. CINNAMON – CINNA (one opposed to Caesar) + M[ove] + ON (forward)
15. THE PIANIST – double definition
16. FLIC – hidden word
18. ROCK – double definition
20. SILVERSIDE – SILVER (medal) + SIDE (team)
22. TEMPORAL – TEMP (office worker) + ORAL (spoken)
24. BASTE – T (time) in BASE (HQ)
26. TRIPOLI – TRIPO[d] (stand when duke has gone) + L (left) + I (one)
27. ROLLERS – ER (Her Majesty) in ROLLS (car)
28. GREEN HOWARDS – HO[me] + WARD (guard) in GREENS (vegetables). This was the most difficult clue for me. I do not recall hearing of them before but the Green Howards are Alexandra, Princess of Wales’s Own Yorkshire Regiment.
