Agentzero.

A pleasant, if fairly easy, puzzle today.  Not too much to comment on here.

Across
1 MEDICATION C (cold) in MEDIATION (good offices)
7 FLAT dd
9 HIND dd
10 ENTERPRISE ENTER (embark upon) P (positive) RISE (promotion)
11 COSSET COS (lettuce) SET (planted)
12 EXACTING EX (late) ACTING (performance)
13 TERMINAL dd
15 SECT C (Charlie) in SET (agreed).  As in, “we set a date”
17 OPAL OP (work) A L (large)
19 ON THE RUN *(NONE HURT)
22 DRESSAGE DRESS (groom) AGE (season)
23 ADVICE AD (notice) VICE (weakness)
25 ASTONISHED *(THEN SAID SO)
26 GLEN L (sinister) in GEN (information).  There was discussion in one of the Guardian blogs recently about the indirectness of sinister = left =L.  I don’t object to it
27 SLIT S (bob, i.e., shilling) LIT (illuminated)
28 SCRAMBLING SCRAM (get out) BLING (jewellery).  We don’t usually see such up-to-date slang.  This calls for an appropriate emoticon:  8)

Down
2 EPISODE EP (record) IS (one’s) ODE (poem)
3 INDUS hidden in hINDUStan
4 ABETTING A BETTING (price)
5 IN THE ALTOGETHER *(HITHERTO ELEGANT)
6 NORMAL NORMA (Bellini heroine and crossword stalwart) L (left)
7 FORETASTE ETAS (Greek letters) in FORTE (speciality)
8 ARSENIC *(RACINE’S)
14 MILKSTOUT MILKS (takes advantage of) TOUT (solicitor).  A sweet kind of stout, containing lactose.  Chambers, Collins and COED all have this as two words, so I think the enumeration should be (4,5) rather than (9).
16 AT RANDOM RAND (foreign money) in ATOM (scrap)
18 PERUSAL PER (through) USA (American) L (literature initially).  The definition, READ, should be understood as a noun here (“gave it a read”).
20 UNCLEAN UNCLE (pawnbroker and therefore usurer) AN (article
21 LADIES I.E. (that is) in LADS (boys)
24 VIGIL VIRGIL (Roman poet) minus R (run out)

    Hi Agentzero
