Independent 7115/Dac

Apparently Dac’s recent Saturday crossword was quite tricky. He seems to have continued in the same vein here — this took me far longer than a normal Dac. The usual crop of very nice clues, but one or two that I don’t fully understand: whether this is as a result of feebleness of mind, greater difficulty, or atypical unsoundness from Dac I’m not quite sure. Financial Times 13,146 / Satori

A fine challenge from Sartori today with some good surfaces and some clues that I found nicely misleading on the first pass through. I have a minor quibble with 7d, and a couple of the homophones, but this was more than adequately compensated for by the rest of the puzzle. Parsing 8d held me up for a little while but once I had done so it brought a smile to my face, as did a number of other clues, particularly 18d.

Guardian 24770 / Araucaria

For an Araucaria puzzle, I thought this wasn’t too difficult. Figuring out his wordplay is always excellent fun, and I always learn a few new things. There’s a mini theme of “refusals” in four clues.
