I’ll freely admit to finding this a bit of a challenge, and suspect I won’t be the only one. There were a good handful of unfamiliar terms and some quite complex wordplay in places, along with an impressive number of entries of eleven or more letters. There’s no obvious St. George theme that I can see, but if memory serves, I blogged last year’s and missed it completely.

Guardian 24,992 / Logodaedalus

I’d half expected a St George or Bardic theme today. There’s a small nod to the latter but, otherwise, I haven’t really anything to say about this:  there’s nothing exceptional or exceptionable, I think – my quickest solve for ages.

Financial Times 13367 / Falcon

I am returning to 15sqd as a stand-in for Shuchi.

A none-too-difficult crossword, though there are a couple of unusual words, which are easily obtainable from wordplay. Clueing mostly fits the bill, which is modest.  Obvious word divisions for a couple of answers (e.g., JACK SPRAT, STALEMATE)  leaves the solver unexcited.

Saturday Prize Crossword – Independent 7333 by Anax

Very unusual and impressive puzzle, this, which I found somewhat easier than previous Indy puzzles by Anax, solving time, 44 mins.   One or two I’m not fully sure of, though am reasonably confident.
