I didn’t get to bed until 3.30, but at least we beat Henry’s new team without any of our World Cup players (apologies to footiesceptics).
I’m not a fan of long anagrams and even less so when the online software can’t cope, but felt I should allow Nimrod this indulgence on his big day. Other crossword editor seem to have agreed.

Like you I’m not always keen on long anagrams,but in this case the check letters gained from spotting it fairly early were a very welcome aid.
