The title is also a reference to the architecture being frozen (or 9d frory?) music.
Incidentally, the clue to 7d (endosmometric) hopefully had a certain thematic relevance.

6dn: The ‘but’ in the answer comes from ‘yet’ in the clue; the ‘but’ in the clue (“but not active”) is just part of the indication to remove the A from ‘lazy’.

I must admit I hadn’t connected SILVA with the compass manufacturer until you mentioned it. However given my daughters spent hours playing with Sylavanian Families, I should have realised that SILVA did go with woodland some how.

A rare purchase of the paper meant I managed to see an IQ for a change. I enjoyed this one, usual high standard from this setter.

I did wonder about the double-duty of the C (CLASSICAL/CONCRETE) and the F left unused. A necessary compromise? I liked the running together of CLASSICAL COUNTRY HOUSE to give an architectural term.

I don’t have my solution with me now but I don’t remember having a query against 6dn.

I take it SILVA wasn’t new for you Duncan. I’d always known it was a Scandinavian term for something in the outdoors, just never checked it up until now.
