Someone advised that the FT site had put up the correct version and this goes down as my first ever unaided FT crossword solve.
Took an eternity to get 7d

Thanks UY for the blog of another Dante.

I have the puzzle here right in front of me, so I see that I put five ?'s.
The ones at RECORD and BETRAYAL are not that relevant anymore, although I agree with you that BET for 'woman' is not that great.
TAIL PIECE (18d) defined by 'final news item' was another question mark.
As was 'Nut or nuts' for ECCENTRIC - don't tell me that it's just about a noun versus an adjective. Ah well, you did. Very poor, if this is what it is.
Question mark #5 was for 19d - I think a feeble cd.

But then - it is Dante, and so there are some fantastic clues, too.
What a beautiful surface and imagery in OMNIBUS (20d).
Winner #2 : 26ac (TERRAPIN) with its fine surface.

But surely the Clue of the Day:
MANAGED (15d) "Controlled game and set".
...and Match !! :)
