A very pleasant solve this week, once again. I thought I might be on for a rare unaided finish but alas the big red book had to come out to finish the NE corner – primarily to confirm some elements of the wordplay in 12ac, 6dn and 8dn.

As always of course, a very good crossword from Azed. Some of the clues (1ac and 1dn particularly) are marvellous and everything is sound and well-signposted. My solving performance is rather feeble: I can imagine that people will 10ac to this site in the hope of clarification, something I don’t always provide.
