The next Sloggers and Betters (London) get-together will take place on Tuesday 24th May. The venue will be the Ship and Shovell under Charing Cross Station and it is expected that the early birds will start gathering at around 4pm.

Nimrod is one of the most prolific compilers at the moment, under a variety of pseudonyms. He is also Enigmatist in the Guardian, Io in the Financial Times and Elgar in the Daily Telegraph.

I solved most of this puzzle on the train from London to Lyon, and found it an excellent way of making a long journey shorter. Unfortunately there was no online version available so I have been unable to use PeeDee’s software to incorporate the clues but here is a link to the pdf of the puzzle if you’ve sent yours off.

So no grid numbers this week – just a list of straight clues in alphabetical order of their grid entry, forming an alphabetical jigsaw. After the majority have been entered, the remaining grid entries need to be broken up to form a quotation and its author around the grid perimeter.
