I found this to be at the gentler end of the Nimrod spectrum when I solved it although it became more interesting when I started to blog it and analyse the wordplay properly.

I had advance warning at the Birmingham Bash from the man himself that I had an Enigmatist to blog this week, so I was looking forward to it - with just a little trepidation! I actually found it one of the easiest Enigmatist puzzles I’ve ever done but that may very well be because the theme simply couldn’t have been more up my street – and he even signposted the Nina!

A double dose of Samuel this week, with the (rather more light-hearted?) Inquisitor 1183 in the Indy on Saturday as well. The preamble here indicated a quotation from extra letters in wordplay, a thematic derivation from the rest of the quotation, and two methods of altering 10 answers before entry. All in all, some familiar EV devices, and your correspondent got off to a reasonable start – before taking a couple of wrong turns…
