Oops. Problems here. I’m not sure how it’s come out in the pink paper, but the PDF puzzle I’ve got from the FT website is all to cock: rogue white squares and clues strewn here, there and everywhere. I think I’ve managed to pick my way through the wreckage okay, though.

This time yesterday, I was thanking my lucky stars that I wasn’t blogging the Enigmatist. [Well done, Andrew - I was among those who had a busy day and had to come back to it and, by the time I'd finished the battle, there was nothing left to say]. My pleasure at seeing Boatman’s name on today’s puzzle took an immediate dive on seeing the ‘special instructions’: two prize-type puzzles on two consecutive weekdays seemed a bit much!

Monday Prize Crossword/Oct 31
A Crux crossword full of clues that were really on my wavelength. When I showed this puzzle to my PinC (who has never tackled a Crux), she was very impressed by it, adding ”a setter who really cares for surfaces”. I couldn’t agree more. Happily, Crux geared up a bit which made that, at least for me, solving this puzzle wasn’t a routine job – the top half being considerably harder than its counterpart. Nice crossword – not too many cryptic definitions [in my opinion, not Crux's forte], and 24d? … any ideas in defence of Crux are most welcome.
