scchua @25 That’s quite a trek. I, too, hope there’ll be more such events. My 3000 miles and 5 hour time difference pale in comparison.

Looking at the photos I have one question, who is “dormiN”?

Arachne @20, one final off-topic point, Guardian’s sports section does over-by-over coverage when England’s playing. It’s an interactive thing, much of the time the thread veers off into uncharted territory. Some people write in with requests for financial support of various charitable sporting endeavours. I’m sure the readers will respond just as generously to you.

I can say it was worth all of about 7000 miles and 8 hour time difference thanks to yourself and others, nmsindy. It was serendipitous that I could be there this first time and I hope there’ll be more.

Nooooooo, Arachne ! Please, don’t – I can’t do any crosswords with sports in them.

Thanks, Jane for the photos (is Sil seeing the same ones as me?). I haven’t looked at Dave’s yet but rather dread looking because I know the camera was aimed at me on one occasion and my face cracks lenses.

What a great time I had and what a splendid idea to have a buffet with round tables and space to roam and get to know people. Thanks, Peter, for organising it.

Thank you also to the clever folk who gave us crosswords. I’ve completed Sil’s (Dalibor) and hope to send comments to him. Trailman’s is almost complete with Gervase’s to follow.

For those who joined in the discussion about train prices way back, my train fare did come down and I’m preparing a paper about the best time to book advance tickets.

Apologies ditto, and we mustn’t hijack the thread, but just to say thanks to stumped @19 for the fascinating link – two ret’d outs in one international innings must be pretty much unheard of! S’pose the argument in the end is semantic. There are 10 ways of being dismissed, but 11 ways of being out. As for a cricket-themed puzzle, stumped, I’d absolutely love to do one, but suspect it might not win me too many friends We’ll see…
