Three unclued entries, some clashes, “thematically placed”. Clashes resolve to give an appropriate word reading down the grid. “Three similar words” (similar to what? each other?) “again thematically placed”, forming relevant shapes (16 cells in all) …
Slightly mystified by the rubric, but sure that it’ll become clear as we progress.

My last one for the year and it’s a Nimrod, oh dear not again, several days of feasting – well drinking, eating and lounging in front
of the tele, let’s be honest here is not the best fare to prepare for this.

It looks as if the Financial Times has not been published today because Christmas Day fell on a Sunday which means both 26 and 27 December are Bank Holidays in the UK this year.

What a tour de force from Boatman today. His device (all twelve of them) may be second; but in my book, it is the top. Bravo Boatman!

A nicely constructed entry-level puzzle from Orlando for Boxing Day morning. Plenty of anagrams to get you going, but a good range of other devices too.

I fancy this might be a lonely place today, since you’re all no doubt doing Feast of St Stephen things, but if you are by any chance remotely interested, you’ll find my take on Quixote’s puzzle below …

Christmas is over. The world returns to normal, and there are few things more normal for a Guardian solver than a Rufus crossword on a Monday morning.

My records are perhaps not entirely exhaustive, but I think this is the first time I’ve blogged a Glow-worm IoS puzzle.

I hope I’m safe to post this today. Closing dates for puzzles are a bit of a moveable feast at this time of year, but according to the paper, the competition should be over by now.

The entry deadline for this EV has been pushed out to 30-Dec, so I will post the blog on 31-Dec. Also, I have seen somewhere that there will be an ON-LINE ONLY EV (presumably no. 999) on Xmas Day at the Telegraph Crossword site (members only), along with all their other Sunday puzzles. A bit discriminatory against their paper-only solvers, but it must improve the odds of winning a prize this weekend!… A Merry Xmas to you all…

Good stuff from Paul, I found this hard to get started and then quick to finish once I got going. Thank you to Paul, and a merry Christmas to everyone.

I had a fun time solving this puzzle. The grid has four nearly independent mini-grids and I worked through them starting from the top-left, going anti-clockwise, with 10a as my last answer in. Especially enjoyed 25a, 18d.

A reasonably straightforward puzzle from Orlando (perhaps to soften us up for Araucaria’s Christmas special tomorrow), but with all his usual sound elegance and understated wit. Thanks, Orlando, and Merry Christmas to all setters, bloggers and readers.
