Never heard of ULE before, nms, but you&#039;re right - it&#039;s there in my SOED (but not my Collins) as a variant spelling of HULE for the Central American rubber tree (and the rubber itself).  It comes from the Nahuatl (originally Aztec) language, which has also given us &#039;axolotl&#039;, &#039;chocolate&#039; and &#039;tomato&#039;.]]></description>
