3d: the 'and' has misled you, I think. 'Light' here is a verb meaning 'land'. Not wrong, but tidier to have used 'light with sun' in the circs.

Just the thing for a Sunday morning.

I also wondered if there was a foodie theme developing; in addition to the ones you mention, I noted the vitamin deficiency in RICKETS, the quacking duck in CHARLATANISM, and the reference to the CAP in the excellent CAPSIZE (simple, but my favourite clue).

Also found the anagrams/surfaces for CASSEROLE and USER FRIENDLY v amusing.

Last in: the crossing SPORTSWRITER and RAISINS. This was largely because I was misdirected for ages by 'peeled sun' in 11, and was expecting a word beginning with U.

I parsed PHRASED the same as K's D.

This one pressed all the right buttons for me, so many thanks to Simon and Crosophile.

Morning Simon

I need exercise at my age, so I'll have a crack at PHRASED as being R for 'writing' (as in reading, writing and arithmetic, the three Rs) in PHASED for 'a bit at a time', with 'on the contrary' suggesting the wrong way round for the insertion.
