Nothing too challenging from Merlin today. A few more ‘hidden’ solutions than I’d like, and perhaps one or two somewhat stretched definitions, but also some lovely surfaces. I enjoyed it.

An entertaining puzzle from Brummie, with some cleverly interlinking clues which may perplex non-Brits. My only quibble is that some of the clues are over-long and / or clunky but, overall, it was fun to solve and not too taxing. Thanks, Brummie.

Monday Prize Crossword/Jul 9
It’s a well-known fact that Monday Prize Crosswords can be found at the easier end of the spectrum. This Falcon puzzle was no exception, but I hasten to say that it is quite a gift to write crosswords that are so smooth and elegant as this setter does on this particular level.
