Many thanks for the blog Big Dave and to Pan for the crossword. I usually expect to see more anagrams in a Quiptic and most of the anagrams in this puzzle yielded only part of the answer.

I got BLIND DATE but couldn’t quite see how it worked. That’s the problem with being the dissolute member here. “Fixed bet” is a BLIND as any poker player will tell you. After that you’re stuck on explaining the word play.

Just about right for a Quiptic in my opinion, although not very devilish.

Glad it wasn’t just me that was disappointed there wasn’t a theme related to the crossword number. A very nice Quiptic, thank you Pan, and BD too.
