1A duncanshiell is confusing “past” with “passed”. It is “hock” + “ye” (you) passed round. If the clue were trying to draw attention to an archaic version of you, the word “past” would have had to be used.

Took a little longer than usual but we didn’t have time to finish it in one sitting.

SE corner was the last to be filled. We needed a search for card games for 22d before the penny dropped – ‘player’ seemed to be a rather loose definition for the answer.

No other complaints though – certainly none about the new site!

Thanks Duncan and Dac. Another fine puzzle, just got held up a bit in the NW corner. LUMMOX I had heard of, but couldn’t think of the synonym for ‘fox’. I thought INDISCRETION was particularly clever.

I too had thoughts about tomorrow’s date, but wasn’t going to mention it since it could be a spoiler …

A little harder than usual from Dac, needing a little help. Needed the blog to parse APOLOGIST – I was fixated on A plus PT (= point) containing ‘ologis’ which no way could I make sense of – obviously, now that I see it.

Have to agree Rowly, won’t complain about having a Dac to do though, even if I did spend a little longer than usual looking for themes than I normally would with one of his.

Carped was my last but fortunately didn’t fall into the trap that MikeC did.

Thanks d and D. An enjoyable puzzle, indeed. I ended up f9aed by CARPED, persuading myself that the answer was “ramped” (apparently ramp can mean rage). The real answer is so much more precise!
