Seasonal Felicitations

Posted by Gaufrid on December 17th, 2012

It’s the festive season again (it doesn’t seem that long since the last one!) and time for me to offer my thanks to many people.

Firstly, to all those who gave a donation towards the hosting costs for this site. Your generosity has enabled me to pay for the hosting for the next two years and there is enough left in the kitty to cover a third year and/or any unforeseen expenditure. I would also like to thank Neil Wellard, the site’s founder and former administrator, for footing the bill, out of his own pocket, for the first six years of the site’s existence.

Secondly, my thanks to the members of the Fifteensquared team who have spent time and effort preparing the multitude of posts that have been published during the year. I am sure that your input to the site has been much appreciated by many people.

Next I would like to say thanks to all who have posted comments on the site. These make interesting reading and give a cross-section of views about each puzzle. I am pleased that, by and large, this has been done in a polite and friendly manner. I know that many setters appreciate the feedback that the comments give so please keep posting them.

Finally, having mentioned the setters, I would like to thank them, and their editors, for the many hours of enjoyment, and occasional frustration, that their puzzles have given us this year. Long may you continue to give the mental challenges, and stimulation, that your puzzles provide.

Seaonal felicitations to all bloggers, commenters, lurkers, setters and solvers (and everyone else) wherever you are.

I hereby second the motion. More power to you The Famous Gaufrid, and I hope your health difficulties in the last year are truly behind you.

We are all in your debt.

Happy Christmas everyone and thanks again to Gaufrid for all his hard work. I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that £5 represents the bargain of the year.

Best wishes for Christman and the New Year to all.

Many thanks to Gaufrid for his work throughout the year and especially for moving this site to a decent holding company. I can now, probably, drop my habit of holding a copy of my comments while I wait to see if the site will accept it or fail.

  14. John (Paul) says:

Gaufrid, you do a wonderful job, as do all you lovely bloggers. Keep up the good work. I for one could not do without this site for its invaluable feedback, bouquets and brickbats!

A very merry Christmas to you all,

    John (Paul)

Thank you to Gaufrid and all the bloggers for another year of efforts on our behalf. They are greatly appreciated. I am often so late to the party that I rarely comment under the blogs but I do read them.

Seasons Greetings and best wishes to all.

  18. Phi says:

Merry Christmas everyone (it is Christmas Day here in NZ now, though I don’t think the UK has made it quite yet).

  19. Sil van den Hoek says:

If, say, tomorrow Fifteensquared would cease to be (like a parrot), my life wouldn’t be like it was before.
We tweet, we have Facebook, but this is ‘my’ Community.

Many many thanks to you, Geoff, for keeping this site (ie us all) alive.
I really hope to meet you one day or another at one of these crossword gatherings.

In the meantime, a Very Happy New Year to everyone!

  20. Robi says:

Happy New Year Gaufrid and to all the setters, bloggers and posters. This is such a great site to visit, giving countless pleasure to many cruciverbalists.
