Terrific solve, but very hardof course. Had to enlist a chum (a former 15² blogger) to get anywhere near finished. I have a completed grid but still don’t know what hit me. Bravo to Anax, and thanks to John.

Another good head-scratcher from Anax. No nits found, apart from us! We missed the H blocks totally in the grid and having that pointed out, increases our admiration. However, we can see that linked clues don’t suit everyone but for us they add an extra dimension to the puzzle which is good occassionally.

Unless he’s been leading a double life, flashling, I don’t think ‘our’ Allan_C is the Alan Connor who does the articles in Another Place. But they are well-written and entertaining, especially the interviews with the letters of the alphabet. Check them out if you haven’t already.

Thanks John and Anax. Great stuff. My COD 14d – so simple but at the same time so trademark Anax (I spent a fair bit of time trying to see how I could make sense of some word or letters “behind” [after] Aga).

Well, I finished it, but it took me an age and a good helping of gadgetry. I didn’t see the H link until quite near the end. Anax is a tough setter; what I find hard is the clever wordplay and the use of words in their less common meanings.

I thought this was a clever puzzle, although for my taste a bit too much interlinking, where so many clues depend on each other.

And I think that the black squares forming two Hs between the themed clues might be deliberate too …
