If you access this site using a mobile device and have the mobile-friendly display generated by the WPtouch plugin, please do not add a comment using the ‘reply’ button included in an existing comment. Instead please scroll down to the end on the comments and use the comment box in the normal manner.
The reason for this is that reply button adds the reply immediately after the original comment and then renumbers all subsequent comments. The result of this is that any comments added to the post before the ‘reply’ that have used @xx, or similar, to refer to an earlier comment will now have the wrong comment number because the comment being referred to will have had its number increased by the number of ‘replies’ added.
Unfortunately I have been unable to find a way to disable this feature (ie by hiding the ‘reply’ button or by ensuring that if it is used the ‘reply’ appears in the list of comments in the appropriate timeslot rather than immediately after the original comment).
Gaufrid, if your blog software let’s you fiddle with the CSS directly, you could try hiding the links with
It might get an occasional false positive if someone posts a link which matches the same pattern, but it’s pretty unlikely.
Hi Cyborg
Thanks for the suggestion. I am able to edit the CSS and will try your code in my sandbox, assuming I can identify the correct file to add it to.
Gaufrid,
Hope you’re well and thanks for all the hard work you put in over the last year.
Any chance we can clear some of the pinned posts on the main page? – it’s getting a bit cluttered and it’s easy to miss posts because you assume nothing new has been posted.
Sorry to be annoying!
All best,
Jon
Hi Jon
I normally try to limit the number of ‘sticky’ posts to a maximum of one but on this occasion a greater number couldn’t be avoided. However, the current four will be progressively removed during the next few days.
Thanks mate!
On mobile, the numbers don’t show,so all these references to @nn are not very helpful anyway 🙁
