Independent on Sunday 1071 by Quixote – 22nd August 2010

Morning all. An impressive grid this week with no fewer than eight 15-letter answers. These long answers were mostly presented as anagrams, and unpicking them all took some time. Our pick of the clues this week, though, goes to 19ac – a pleasing &lit.

  1. Thanks Handel.
Though the meat of the puzzle was in those 15-lettered lights, there were nice touches for the shorter lights. With you on 19A being the best clue – a tight &lit.
Also agree that in 10A, there’s got to be a typo (at least in the online version) in “wallers”, which together with “repainted” misdirected me.
    Thanks Quixote.
