New Server

We have now moved to a new hosting company. If you have any problems with the site please report them to me at fifteensquared{at}btinternet{dot}com or the usual Admin address.

From my experiments to date, you should get a much faster response time. Again, if you don’t, please report as above.

  1. It’s working very well, based on a comparison with some of the things I did on the old server which took a long response time.

    With the chance of a breather now for Gaufrid, it’s now our turn to say a BIG THANK YOU to him for a job well-planned, managed and executed.

    It’s not just you. The Site Feedback page gives a similar response, displaying the holding message that was put up whilst the transfer took place. I have reported this to the new hosting company but it may just be a case that CloudFlare have yet to update their cached pages.

  3. Well done Geoff, super fast now – I just looked at the edit/admin pages, and no more 10 second delay on loading.

    One of these things you wish you done ages ago – good stuff.

    Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I’ve said to a couple of people this morning that we should have made the change ages ago, but I suppose that is with the benefit of hindsight.

  6. I am very impressed with the speed now and also the fact that my update succeeds in reaching the site. On the old one I developed the habit of capturing my update with CTRL+C because I often had to re-submit.

    Yes, so have I. It appears that there was a massive DDoS attack on multiple servers which caused network problems. This started at about 1625 and the disruption continued for around an hour.

    I doubt that this is a regular occurence otherwise Big Dave wouldn’t have recommended the new hosting company to me (his Telegraph blogging site is hosted by them).
