Everyman No. 3472 (21st April)

Lorraine:  Good morning to you all,

I was working on Sunday so had to wait until Tuesday before I could do my much loved Everyman.

Fairly straight forward this week, favourites are too numerous to mention, but needless to say I enjoyed this immensely, even though I had withdrawal symptoms having to wait until Tuesday.

Big thank you to Everyman as always.

    This was a very enjoyable puzzle by Everyman. My favourites were 12a, 3d, 4d, 7d, 8d, 17d.

New word for me was ‘ocean-greyhound’.

    Thanks for the blog, Lorraine.

  2. Robi

    Enjoyable, smooth as ever.

Thanks Lorraine; I think 8d is (EAST*) + RISK. I also didn’t know OCEAN GREYHOUND or OFFALY.

    Thanks Lorraine,

Another excellent puzzle from Everyman with two clues being particularly problematic.
Just couldn’t see MARCHING ORDERS or ASTERISK, for quite a while. Both were very
misleading especially ASTERISK where I was trying to make an anagram of star and east.
    Thanks Everyman.

Thanks, Lorraine. I was away at the w/e and have only now got round to reading your explanations. Could you (or someone) please explain the connection between “round file” and a wastepapar basket?

  5. Hello Crosser,

Round as are waste paper baskets, and file, put it away. File it in the bin.

    Lorraine.

Hum, thank you! Not perhaps the best clue in the puzzle!
