Another puzzle with the Gaff trademark of commemorating an event, given in 8,9 across. But I did it in reverse, with 18 across giving me the E word in full before then getting 1 across and all the other E subspecies of creatures. Enjoyable and educational with respect to a worthwhile cause. Thank you to Gaff. I had to seek help from a friend to parse the last couple of answers. Definitions are underlined in the clues. [[The pictures at the bottom have unidentified links to the puzzle. Please enclose any comments on them in double brackets. Thank you.]]

Tough workout and needing a fair bit of animal knowledge/Google!
The 23/24 typo stumped me for ages as I looked for notable Henry’s in Sikkim..
NULLO I guessed – not in any dictionary I have available.
Thanks to Gaff and scchua
Thanks scchua and Gaff. I found this very entertaining. I am glad to have HOSIER explained, albeit with a typo. I found lots of examples of SIKKIM clothing on the web!
Did you see the NINA alluded to in the instructions?
[[pic 1 depicts a product that would contain OLEATEs]]
Thanks scchua
I didn’t parse 29dn as a cryptic def. but as ‘in spiratIONAl’.
Thanks Gaufrid, that’s a more cryptic (and more justifiable) interpretation. Consider the blog amended.
Hi, Muffyword, indeed, I did see the Nina, and refered to it in my comment for 8,9 across.
[[and you’re right about pic 1.]]
Like peterj@1 I couldn’t find nullo in either my (new) Chambers or my (old) ODE.
Ditto for oggie.
Sikkim is also not in Chambers, but fortunately is in the ODE.
Granted, I could find them via Google but really words like nullo & oggie should only be used if they are verifiable in Chambers, IMHO.
Thanks Gaff and schuaa [[Pic 2 is a Galapagos iguana which is at risk of extinction. Pic 3 is beanbag-firing shotgun which is an alternative to tasers used by law enforcement. Pic 4 is the Queen of Sikkim with her baby]]
[[That’s absolutely right, Steve. In case anyone asks …. the marine iguana, like Lonesome George’s kind, is unique to the Galapagos; the beanbag shotgun round is actually filled with lead shot; you might say that Sikkim royalty is extinct too, the monarchy having been abolished when Sikkim became an Indian state.]]
