Relatively gentle for an Azed (i.e. I solved it in about an hour which is fast for me). A couple of uncharacteristic errors — incorrect enumeration at 31A and bad anagram fodder at 3D — unless I’m completely off the mark.
Across
1 SKU[l,kin]G – shelter
4 DO,OR(MA)TS – often walked over, orts=leftover scraps.
11 WA(N)Y – it’s in Chambers and it’s an adjective for describing something waning.
12 SOARE[d] – obsolete one-year old hawk
13 ATAP – hidden in “that a palm” and incidentally its palm leaves can be used for thatching.
14 RE(QUIT)AL – real is (former) Brazilian money. They must be using the euro by now.
15 MAI,STRING – Mai is French May and string=drove as in of cattle and the whole thing is Scots mastering.
16 MIS,ANDROUS – Miss (Julie) Andrews… almost. Didn’t she? like sex?
17 CHEKIST – (the sick)* – “guardians” of (Soviet) security once upon a time.
22 FALSISM – (as films)*– this answer is manifestly false!
24 PRIESTS,HIP – persist* followed by HIP=latest (political ideas in this case)
28 SH(A,KED)OWN – a temporary bed (shake some straw!) – KED=wingless fly.
29 EG(OMANI)A – Omani is a common crossword Arab in rev(age).
30 GLUE – first letters – size also means glue.
31 OK,A(P)I – two animals – OKAPI is an antelope and AI=sloth. Enumeration should be (5) but was (4) online.
32 PINS – rev(snip)
33 ST(ONE)AGE – rather clever clue. Take Stevenage (in Herts) and replace even by one to get sometime very old.
34 INGS – sign* – riverside meadows.
Down
1 SWAM,P (CY)PRESS – grows in everglades. CY=borders of C[ountr]Y. And P-PRESS=c-crowd.
2 KATAL – start with “a talk”=”a discussion” and move its tailpiece to the front to get an SI unit for catalytic activity.
3 UNAIMED – random but wordplay should be A[rt] in medium* but doesn’t quite work since one of the M’s should be an N.
4 DARTS – two meanings.
5 OPERAS – soaper* = N. Am. soap opera
6 RO(UNDE)L[e] – disc where unde=wavy=undulations.
7 MA,I,GRE – fish in the Mediterranean – rev(erg=unit of work, I am)
8 ARTY – hidden reversed in “lowly tradesman”
9 TEA(CU)PS – cu in paste*
10 S(ELF-SA,MEN)ESS – false*,men in SESS=cess=tax
18 HAR(DGO)T – dog* in hart=deer
19 IN (SH)A,PE – sh=belt up (as in, be quiet)
20 C,I,POL,I,N – type of (Italian) marble. rev(I lop=I cut)
21 DESMAN – (Russian aquatic) insectivore – hidden in “everglades (mangroves)”
23 A(SKIN)G – ref. the ASKING price and fell=skin.
25 H(E)AVE[n] – I think that HEAVE has a meaning that is reach but I can’t prove it in Chambers.
26 S(W)UNG – ref. the Chinese Sung dynasty.
27 TO(K)O – it’s a punishment and TOO=over the top and I suppose this is an &lit since when the punishment involves the king’s head, well… that’s just too much.
The sloppy checking seems to have recurred in today’s puzzle, which has one letter missing (I think) in an across clue, and apparently two answers clued purely by definition, only one of which is the competition clue-word.

No, all is good. 29 across is a sort of cryptic &lit. and I can’t find any errors in the across clue parsings.
