  1. Hi john can you put Cathryn and I down for the Saturday food, no stars. Hope to do Friday night but depends on when I can get out of work.

  2. And I’ll be there on Saturday at least – probably staying over to leave on Sunday.
Five stars for me. Nothing to do with food, just very big-headed.

  3. All above modified on my master list. PeeDee, you’re very welcome.

Chas, I had a text from you to say you were planning to come.

    John

  4. John: I heartily second PeeDee’s request. I’d like to meet my primary blogger 🙂

Just notice that my “Submit Comment” conundrum is 2 x [ ] = two. Here goes …

  5. Hi John. I think my last email to you (if you got it) puts me in list (b) for the time being as I won’t know for a bit when I can arrive on the Sat. Pub crawl def not poss. Cheers, Mark

  6. If I’m not too late I’d like to come for lunch on the Saturday please – I’ve no special food requests. I look forward to putting some faces to names!

  7. All of the above updated, thanks!

I’m meeting the F&R landlord this evening to give him a reasonably “final” number for Saturday week.

    Best to all,

    John

  8. Hi John. Re my comment at #9 above. Since the buffet is 3pm onwards, I’ll be up for it. Hope I’m not too late for your chat with the F&R landlord. Cheers, Mark

  9. No prob, #16 M on K, I said add five to all the totals I gave him. He seems remarkably cool about it all…

(But then I haven’t told him about Kathryn’s Dad, Liz G, Bert & Joyce and the devil worship yet.)

  10. I only do Sunderland worship, John, as you know. The Red Devils have just been our whipping boys recently. And I believe we are playing the Arse on the day, so there may be a conversation we need to have around 1655 … When you’re crying into your beer, I’ll buy you another one.

  11. Belated update re dietary: our (2 x vegetarian) doesn’t look to have made it over from our original posting, though if the landlord’s that cool everyone’s probably catered for anyway. Looking forward to the devil worship…

  12. Copy of post on the other thread:

    Hi John

I’m now able to come and have booked the train. I would like lunch with no dietary requirements.

    Regards

    Jeff

  13. #18, #21, #22 all factored in, plus Commoner by email.

Thanks for updating, guys, see you (tonight and/or) tomorrow.

    John

  14. Not coming to this so hope goes well – but surely the catering should be restricted to crossword puzzle food and drink? Lasagne/Lasagna, plenty of fat, anything roast, obscure fish (ling, ide), copious red wine but otherwise asti, hock and retsina?

  15. Just had a wonderful evening. My first ever pub crawl with an ingenious quiz to keep us entertained as we went. Met some lovely people and had a thoroughly good time.
Many thanks to John and his wife and Ian for all their efforts.

  16. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome at York today, and especially to John and Jane for organising the event. A very good venue, helpful pub staff and ample buffet meal all contributed to an enjoyable day.

  17. I’d like to join the chorus of thanks for another entertaining event – thanks to John and Jane for organising and to everyone else for being such good company.

  18. Thanks to everyone, especially John and Jane, who made yesterday an enjoyable get-together.

It was good to see old faces and new.

The venue was a good choice – great beer in particular and Bert enjoyed his dairy-free meal! Joyce appreciated her ‘normal’ meal too.

  19. Enigmatist’s crossword for this event’s Saturday made my day. I am in awe of the kind of brain that can manufacture such a puzzle.

It was a superb weekend, I enjoyed every second.

Thanks especially to Richard, Chris, Helen and Sid.

And of course John and Jane and anyone else involved in its organisation.
