Those who prefer to solve online may be interested to know that the FT now has an (experimental) interactive version of its cryptic puzzles. A link to the relevant page can be found near the top of its crossword homepage.
I have found that the grid and clues do not display when using IE11/Win10 Pro but Chrome, Edge and Firefox seemed fine.
It works fine with my somewhat out-of-date Safari 9.1.
I like it. The alternative option for entering solutions is a lovely touch.
Works fine ony Samsung Galaxy. Have to wait and see if it copes with multiple grid entries, especially one like 24a,24d (4,4).
it looks as if today’s Bradman isn’t available yet, sadly.
I love what I’ve seen so far, though
The Bradman is there now. I quite like the new software.
I think it’s great but could be improved (in my opinion) — when filling in a clue that already has some of the spaces filled with letters then the cursor should skip the letters already filled in.
I’m not impressed, sorry. Having been “reared” on the Guardian site, the requirement to enter each letter is for me tedious – I’ve always used the reveal button to enter the answer – only once I know it of course. I suppose the intention is not to make the answers available and this seems mean – especially if there is any intention to attract a new demographic. But perhaps there isn’t that intention.
Found out today that it can’t cope with a double entry. When you key in 11a, the cursor doesn’t move on to 13a. Tried to give feedback, but of course it doesn’t let me, because I’ve already given my feedback.
No, Oldham – how else would you enter a correction?
I do quite like a lot of the new facility – the progressive entering of the crossers is nice; and the way you can type in on the grid or on the clus list.
I agree with other opinions heard, that it’s disturbiing to have to scroll the grid out of sight to see some clues.
Also, it would be nice if the ‘active’ clue were highlighted (highlit?) rather more vividly so you could see where the clue is as you move round the grid : the maroon ext is not very stand-out.
Doesn’t work at all with IE11 on my computer. I just get the puzzle title, no grid and no clues. I’ve tried adding it to trusted sites, running IE without extensions and disabling the adblocker. No good. Works fine with Firefox.
TBH I’m unlikely to use this facility anyway but just wondering if anyone has had the same issue?

“… just wondering if anyone has had the same issue?”
Yes, which is why I mentioned it in my announcement. I have found that IE11 is failing to render webpages correctly on a number of sites, and the frequency of this occurrence is increasing due to the obsolescent status of this browser.
<facepalm> Duh! Should have gone to Specsavers so I could read your intro properly. </facepalm>
You are right that more and more sites don’t work properly with IE11. I guess that is the price one pays for hanging on as long as possible before braving Windows 10!
cruciverbophile – you could just download a different browser, Chrome is a good choice. There are lots of others to choose from too and no need to move to Windows 10 if you don’t want to.
Microsoft have been trying to retire IE11 for ages.
Thanks PeeDee. I quite like Internet Explorer (I’m probably in a minority of one) but as observed above it’s becoming less and less reliable. I use Firefox for sites that IE won’t display and that’s generally excellent. I’m not a Google fan which is why I have resisted the siren call of Chrome.
