YORK S&B weekend 26-28th October 2018 – New Posting

Edit: Please see comment #50 for details of the Friday evening Ale Trail.

An update from John Henderson:

Here’s my end-of-summer update and request for details; comments posted here will form the basis for catering numbers at the Friday and Saturday events. Even if you have previously indicated attendance or accommodation requirements, please would you do the following and give your A-E attendance details in a post hereinunder.

1 ACCOMMODATION. Please deal directly with Fay Waudby-Green and quoting “S&B Event” at fay.waudby@yorkracecourse.co.uk (Tel: 01904 709174). She has kindly held room rates at the last two years’ £45 (single room) and £70 (twin room). You need to make your arrangements with her VERY soon; the racecourse has now joined booking.com and will fill up any unclaimed places fast!

What I need to know: nothing – unless you have difficulty contacting Fay.

2 FRIDAY ALE TRAIL. Meet for a 6pm start at York Tap (by north end of Platform 3 at York Station), route TBC – but slightly different from last year.

What I need to know:

A: Names of people attending;
B: How many of those named in A would like to partake of food at Pub 2 (7-8pm) – sandwiches, chips etc (up to £5pp, to be collected at main event below).

3 SATURDAY MAIN EVENT. From 11am at The Fox & Roman on Tadcaster Road. Note that the pub is open from 9 for breakfast (beer from 10!).

What I need to know:

C: Names of people attending (for name badges);
D: How many of those named in C would like to partake of the hot and cold buffet (£8pp);
E: Special food requirements for anyone named in C.

Please post in the style of:

A: John Sprat & Jane Sprat
B: 2
C: John Sprat & Jane Sprat
D: 2
E: no seafood/nut products (John); no meat, no dairy (Jane)

I think that’s it, but I’ll update as necessary. Thanks, everyone – looking forward to seeing you all!

John

  7. Having left it late enough that there aren’t any rooms or cheap train fares left any more, I think I might have to give it a miss this year. Boo!

  8. Unfortunately our commitments here in Ireland won’t allow us the luxury of this wonderful weekend, this year. We look forward to seeing you all again at the next jamboree.

    Tenerifemiller and Bev.

  9. I’m afraid I’m going to have to cry off.  A perfect storm of horrible and expensive transport, family invasions and having to travel to Devon on the Monday for a funeral.

    What this does mean is that a room is about to become available at the stables – so if you want to grab it, let me know and I’ll give your name to Fay.

    Sorry John – hope you all have a lovely time.  I’m sure it’ll be another great one.

  10. Kitty, that’s sad news. I’m (suddenly) free to travel on Saturday so I’ve just booked `your` room; thanks for telling me. I hope Monday won’t be too difficult a time for you all.

    John, I’ll be at the F&R mid-afternoon, DV, and I’ll order a bar meal later – post GuiNess. Looking forward to it. A lot.

  11. Sorry to be a pain, but what does S & B stand for?  It’s driving me crazy that I can’t work it out, and I know it’ll be something really obvious!

  13. More than sorry to say, John, I can’t make it after all; I’m needed where I am, in faraway Wales.

    So, a single room is available on Saturday night at The Stables. It was Kitty’s, then mine – for 126 hours. Now, it’s free.

    Have a wonderful weekend.
