Update: A direct link to the relevant pdf file will now be included immediately under the image of each day’s puzzle.
A pdf version of the cryptic is still available (at least for the time being). Go to the FT crossword page ( https://www.ft.com/crossword ) and select the current day’s puzzle. The puzzle will display with a print icon underneath it – ignore this!
Towards the top of the screen, under the main header, you will see ‘Latest on Crossword’ with four entries beneath it. Three will be labelled ‘FT Crossword: Number 15,xxx’ and one simply ‘Crossword’. Click on the latter and you will be taken to a page with the traditional puzzle index. Click on the required date and you will get the pdf version which can then be saved/printed.
Thanks cruciverbophile for drawing my attention to this.
Phew! Excellent sleuthing there chaps
Thanks Gaufrid!
I can see that the URL of that page is not very friendly. Does anyone know whether it changes from day to day? I have just bookmarked it, so I can try it again tomorrow…
Sterling work that person! Does anybody know if this this a permanent change or are my FT solving days over?
The page now has a direct “Download PDF” link.
Well done to whoever persuaded the FT of the need for this, and thank you,
It seems that the expression “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” has yet to reach the I.T. world. I have rarely seen a change that wasn’t for the MUCH worse. Meanwhile, AMEN to “Goujeers” – as to both the eventual fix and to thanks to those whose efforts resolved this nicely.
