Slight query on À bientôt-is it fair to assume everyone knows this? No wordplay.
But I guess the crossers would help. Pleasant puzzle.
I would say that any educated person who reads novels such as those of Agatha Christie would be familiar with some French phrases like À bientôt.
A most beautiful blog of a enjoyable puzzle.
I’ve gone and sullied it with my typo. Should be “an” of course. Apologies
Thanks Sleuth & Scchua.
I agree with Contrapunctus — the blog is a work of art.
Thanks Sleuth and scchua
A case of the blog being slightly more entertaining than the puzzle itself for me. Got through this one in pretty good time and was only really held up with my last one in PERPETRATE. Thought that there was going to an idiomatic theme after the first few up in the NW corner – after IN THE SOUP, STEP ON IT and ROPED IN landed in quick succession. Did like the backward word play with RIYADH.
