   Is “Honalulu” a typo, or is it an alternate UK spelling of Honolulu, or is it a different word entirely with which I’m unfamiliar?

   Thanks Zamorca for an entertaining crossword as well as the customary pangram. I enjoyed COQ AU VIN, DOWNCAST, BLOTTO, ESPOUSE, and REVAMP along with the readable surfaces throughout. I didn’t fully understand HAPPEN so thanks Pete for explaining.

   Agree- enjoyable

   I add BUNGALOW and GLEEFUL to the favorites. Zodiac and ‘appen are in the wrong puzzle – should be in the polymath. I do not understand how paper = SUN nor how shop = PLANT. Would someone please explain?

   Thanks for the blog, good set of neat clues, I will agree with Tony@6 for favourites.
   I did not know the ZODIAC car so thanks to Pete and Frankie @4, I am never going to win the argument for 13 signs of the zodiac.
   Adrianne@5 Honalulu was in the paper, I do not know about online, I suspect it is just a misprint , it is not a UK spelling.

   Martyn@ 7 , The Sun is a uk rag , a disgraceful publication. Currently it rages about paedophiles , for many years it would show 16 year old girls topless on page 3.
   Shop=PLANT in the sense of a place where mechanical work takes place.

    I remember enjoying this last week. Since I don’t get the FT I do the puzzles on line which means I can’t put ticks next to my favourites but I seem to remember that I liked: FOB WATCH, ANGELICA, COQ AU VIN

    Did not know shop = PLANT so thanks for the explanation.

    All good fun as usual. I had to use google to find the Latitude festival.
    But, I didn’t like the grid. It gave four separate crosswords with a token join in the middle.

    Completed and enjoyed but agree with FrankieG that OPUS is a piece of work not a masterpiece; also Honalulu does not exist as a spelling and should not have existed as a clue (it was in both print and online editions btw) but hey everyone makes mistakes and I appreciated the crossword and also this blog
