Enigmatic Variations 1617 Mistaken Identity by Ifor

A mistaken identity to be written beneath the grid exemplifying modifications to 10 across answers. Another 3 in remaining rows must be changed as the remark says. Last bit is to remove a string of the same letters from all three to make the clues work.

All 10 modifications required an ‘le’ to be changed to an ‘el’ for the entry.

The other 3 led to three angles acute, obtuse and reflex which needed to be changed to angels SARIEL, URIEL and RAGUEL

The superfluous letter string to be removed was chone* or ENOCH. The mistaken identity being NOT ANGLES BUT ANGELS with the Book of Enoch concerning fallen angels and the quotation being from Pope Gregory I when he saw an Angle(old UK tribe).
