Fairly straight forward clues this week. Whilst there were some uncommon words – each was clued very precisely.
The extra words spelled out ILLUSTRATIONS ENTER SIX LETTERS IN COLOUR with the perimeter spelling out PHOTOGRAPH OF BRITISH ALGAE CYANOTYPE IMPRESSIONS with the author an early photographer ANNA ATKINS. I admit to using google to assist in my knowledge of this publication.
The six letters I took as PRINTS in row 11 and that to me was the hardest part of the puzzle.

I also highlighted PRINTS in row 11 – and I used a blue pencil (not quite cyan, but I tried)
Indeed – as the instruction was to “represent the theme crypically”, I’m pretty sure the idea was to enter the letters for PRINT in the colour cyan / blue hence cryptically representing the CYANOTYPES or BLUEPRINTS.

The cell in the perimeter is filled with #00ffff=cyan and the colour (if not the hex code) was intended as another hint. I’m sure any blue would do Cap’n P’ng’n.
