Took me longer than it should to parse ARTIFICIAL and to get EXUDE. Could only think of MILLSTREAM for 13d, so looked up ‘race’ to see if it could have such a meaning and it did.
Don’t know if it’s coincidental but the bottom left to top right diagonal reads as SAM SAM.
Comfortable to solve, just needed help with MILLSTREAM.
I like FIREARM (thought weapon was part of the wordplay at first), ARTIFICIAL, PONYTAIL, REFUSE, and OMEGA.
Thanks Hippogryph and scchua.
This was very good fun. Just right for a Sunday morning.
As a Londoner, I was especially pleased to see the Northern homophone indicator in 3d.
Many thanks to Hippogryph and to scchua.
Perfect romp for a Sunday morning. Many thanks to Hippogryph for a lovely puzzle and scchua for our blog.
Gentle enough for a Sunday, nice anagrams! Slowed down in NW as not convinced by the homophone, so waited for crossers… all good in the end…
Thanks Hippogryph and sschua
It took a bit of time to get into but I think I had mentally prepared myself for a Filbert. Once the first few fell this flowed in and I stopped overcomplicating things.
Only ones to slow me down were MILLSTREAM as I wanted the ‘instruction to cryptic solvers’ to be ‘fill it’ and ABBACIES which is one of those words that just look wrong to me.
Enjoyed SPLODGE and IN ANY CASE
Thanks blogger and setter
