Any dedicated quizzers out there?

For the past few years I’ve been doing a quiz on Tuesday evenings (from around 8.30 to around 10.30.)

I believe that there were originally five teams but recently due to real life taking over we’ve been reduced to three regular teams.

Hence this appeal.

The quiz takes place on Zoom and the atmosphere is very friendly. Teams consist of around three or four players and there have even been individual entrants. It’s all very informal. Teams can make their own arrangements to communicate with one another or they can enter a breakout room where they can’t be heard by anyone outside of their room.

Generally the format consists of around a dozen music question, about a dozen picture questions and around 50 general knowledge questions. There’s usually a link running through the GK questions.

We take it in turns to set the quiz and any of the players is invited to set any week’s quiz. A schedule is maintained centrally.

If anyone’s interested or would like further information, either reply to this post or email admin directly.

  1. Hi, I had a couple of mini strokes, and I’m not very good at speaking anymore. Nevertheless, I would like to take part. Is that possible?

  2. I joined the quiz this week as a solo competitor and enjoyed it tremendously. I can’t make the next two due to holidays, but if anyone wants to pair up, I’d be happy to lose my single status, as it were, for future quizzes.

  3. Why is it so difficult to find solutions to cryptic crossword puzzles in the Weekend FT?
Here’s the thing: I’m 84 and I can’t afford the FT every single weekend. It’s all very random.
You can’t be sure which solution you’re going to get on which Saturday. You could of course
go to Sainsbury’s and try to steal a copy in order to peak surreptitiously into to the puzzle section,
thereby no doubt incurring a criminal record. I don’t want to do that. I’ve tried Fifteen Squared – no good.
The solution I need is 18 135 by Guy. What can I do? My ageing brain is about to disintegrate. Please
can you help – I’m only telling you the following because I’m trying to get your attention: I am an actor
and I am playing the Trolley Witch in the latest Harry Potter TV series. I wouldn’t normally do this but
I am desperate! I thank you in advance. Yours sincerely, Janie Booth.

    this before. I haven’t.
