  1. Thanks beermagnet

  2. EdTheBall

    beer magnet by name. Thanks

  3. Franko

Thanks beermagnet and Cyclops. I marked 25a as a fave.
For 28a I wasted time convincing myself that HONESTY = RESERVE since HONE could be fashion. I saw the light in the end.

  4. Winsor

Lovely puzzle and thanks to Cyclops and beermagnet. Couldn’t see why SE was determined but see it now.
(One little point, you have LEVEL at 9A parsing.)

  5. VicTim

Like Franko @3 Tim had Honesty but Vic convinced him that Modesty was more appropriate.
Took a long time to see what bench for 6d before the penny dropped.
    Thanks to S and B

  6. Gordon F

Despite solving 1A straight away(possibly a warning) I thought this was at the harder end of the spectrum. Like others -arse- was difficult to justify for a time.

  7. 9A Wordplay fixed

  8. ClickRick

5d I’ve always known it as two words when used as a verb. e.g. “They are making out”.
And 18d as an adjective – “he has been put away” = “he is in jail”.

  9. clanger9

Darn. I went with HONESTY instead of MODESTY for 28a.
    1a and 19d both made me laugh…

  10. Messiah

    Another vote for honesty

  11. Messiah

I didn’t like 14d – the cryptic definition was basically the same root as the main definition for judge.
