In 18, ‘being out of uncle’s care’ is REDEEMED from the pawnbroker (for which uncle is a slang term).
Very beautiful xword I thot.. Cd not get tram lines ?tho .. Did not know the reference to tennis or the rigid rule .. But most other clues very enjoyable
There’s something odd about 6D. Turbolegs parsing of the clue seems correct, but in fact you need the “i” for the anagram.
Deke @4: I parse this clue as: “not one taking a silly position” is an outfielder, the anagram indicator is “strangely”, and the fodder is “dour leftie”, so nothing untoward about the clue.

Re OUTFIELDER I agree with jmac that is the definition and that the anagram works as he says, but will just mention, as there might be people out there that do not know it, that “silly” in cricket terminology means, of a fielder, “near the batsman”. This was quite tough for BRADMAN with a few answers new to me, but all very fair as always.

Another day, another Pangram. This time with a few new words which needed research – AMNIOTE, ABREACTING, SALISH, and KHADI.
Also, I couldn’t believe that ASHINE was a real word until I looked it up.
In 4ac, I have never seen w for weak before. Is this a standard initial?
In 15ac I’m not certain that the “a” before “lion” is entirely fair since it implies inclusion in the anagram fodder when it is not so.
Is the “to come” in the clue for 24dn a mistake?
A few niggles that hopefully you can answer Turbolegs (or Bradman if you drop by) but nothing to prevent my enjoyment.

I wish I had answers to atleast one of your queries .. but I dont. I havent come across W for weak before this one (I cant see any other way of logically parsing this). With regards to 15ac, I can live with ‘a’ not being part of the fodder. I had the same query as you did for 24dn, hence the ‘?’ in my solution.

This one was a toughie with quite a few new words for me too. Failed to spot the pangram.
Got sucked into initially going down the path of TL with ‘Dour left[i]e’ and then realised that the definition needed the ‘not’ and the anagram fodder needed all of Dour leftie.
Finished with QUANTITIES (had to track down Dame Mary QUANT as the Welsh fashion designer), JEJUNE (a word that didn’t seem all of that unfamiliar, but I certainly didn’t know the meaning of) and HAZE (which wasn’t really as hard as I made it out to be).
At 24d, it looks like Bradman was being a bit on the Paul (Guardian setter) line of thinking from a surface perspective … and then it not coming off in the end.
