I found this fairly hard but managed to complete it without help, except for looking up ‘numbat’ (3d).  My clue of the week is 19a (PALINDROME).

    This was good fun – was able to start off with the local NUMBAT, but only by remembering the crossword friendly NUM (miners). Laughed at GERONIMO, recalling swinging off a rope and jumping into a creek swimming hole when we were kids !! Thought that PALINDROME was also quite clever. PREDAWN was my other favourite.

    Finished in the SW corner with ENTRAP (typically humorous), PREDAWN and ANTI (short but tricky) the last few in.
