It’s just a couple of weeks now to the Leicester Sloggers and Betters get-together in Leicester on May 4 [original announcement here],so it’s time to encourage waverers and to give some more details as to how to get there.
If you’re coming by train, don’t be bewildered by the major roadworks between the station and the venue: it’s quite straightforward. Turn left outside the station and walk straight up London Road for about fifteen minutes until you reach The Old Horse on your left – or you can catch a 31/31A bus [every ten minutes] and get off at the third stop [Mayfield Road] at St James’ church and walk back a few steps to the pub.
If you’re coming by car, the pub [LE2 1NE] has a small car park and there’s street parking round about – or, just around the corner, across the road, less than 5 minutes’ walk away, there’s the de Montfort Hall car park on Granville Road [LE1 7RU].
Since food doesn’t need to be ordered in advance, it’s perfectly OK simply to turn up on the day if plans are changed but it would still be good for us to know [either here or on the original post] if you intend to come. We’re really looking forward to seeing you!
[Now it’s here, a very Happy Easter to those celebrating it!]
I very much hope to be there.Ā I have good memories of last year’s do in Derby – must remember this time to get off at the previous stop.
It’s only a 20-30-minute trip back down the line, Alan, with trains about every half hour, if you overshoot…
I forgot to say that the area reserved for us is at the far right-hand end of the pub as you go in at the front door.
Thanks Eileen. I will definitely be there – the family meal is now definitely on the Sunday so I won’t have to dash off early…
Sniff, would love to be there, but not able to this time. Hope it all goes very well!
Will again be there in my thoughts ⦠I don’t have a bucket list, but one day I hope to get to an S&B in person
(she says wistfully from so far away…).
Have fun, everyone! I imagine having all that brainpower in one place at one time must be awesome!
Unfortunately I’ll not be able to get there this time.
Having attending many in the past, I can say everyone, setters, solvers, and any one interested, is made very welcome for what always is a most enjoyable occasion.
Thanks to those organising it.
Would love to be there but I probably won’t be fit enough to travel as I’ve just had surgery. Have a good time – hope to see you all later in the year.
