It’s Phi-day again
We always look for a theme or Nina in Phi’s puzzles, and only occasionally find one – this isn’t one of those occasions.
Is there a theme? There are one or two entries that we have not come across before, but we can’t see any connections. Hopefully, if there is a theme, someone out there will spot it.

Sorry, I can’t help with the theme. I found this hard, with a couple I didn’t quite understand, namely 1d and 23d, some new words / terms such as ISLAND UNIVERSE and still a few more unparsed.
The unusual takes on ‘Deliveryman/men’ were good – not an obstetrician or bowler in sight. Even though my parsing was a bit iffy, I was pleased to eventually solve DEMI-MONDE.
Thanks to Phi and B&J
I grew up in the north-east and remembered “tab”. Caused some confusion when I was at university. I complained about someone leaving their tab ends on the bathroom floor in a communal bath room. However, the friend I mentioned this too, tabs was a slang term for the male genitals.
Thanks Phi and BnJ
TAB was also slang for a cigarette in the North West, Cheshire/Lancashire at least.
We thought we’d come across the phrase ISLAND UNIVERSE somewhere before, and googling is came up with this link among others. But it doesn’t seem to help with any theme. An enjoyable solve although we didn’t understand the clue for 23dn even though the answer was obvious.
Thanks, Phi and B&J.
