  1. Where is everyone?  I really enjoyed this puzzle.  Everything went in very smoothly apart from a few words and phrases, whose meanings needing verification – for me anyway! Thanks Peter and PeeDee.

  2. “Where is everyone?” – Well, we’re here and we enjoyed the puzzle too.

A minor point about 10ac – some may object to N for navy, as it’s not in Collins, but as it is in Chambers it’s OK by us.  And should the clue for 23ac have had ‘maybe’ or some such at the end, as a sheet of canvas could be something other than a sail (and btw a sheet in nautical parlance is not a sail but a rope used to control a sail)?

Lots to like so no real CoD but CELLOPHANE, ELBOW GREASE and BORAGE were among our favourites.

    Thanks, Peter and PeeDee.

  3. Where is everybody?  Well, in my case, the lure of Azed was too strong and I spent the evening doing that.  A bit harder than average this week so I didn’t finish till about an hour ago, then I started this, but by then I was getting tired and couldn’t complete it.
