Independent 11297 / Hoskins

Hoskins is the setter for the Tuesday Independent this week.

I had noticed MARX and BROTHERS in the grid, but hadn’t looked much beyond that until I remembered that Tuesday is usually theme day in the Independent. Looking a bit further I found four of the MARX BROTHERS films scattered throughout the grid.  I spotted DUCK SOUP, ANIMAL CRACKERS, HORSE FEATHERS and MONKEY BUSINESS.

1 across brought back some memories for me as I did land survey work around Lake CHAD for 9 months in the early 1970s.

Many of the clues were worded in the style we have come to expect from Hoskins’ puzzle and gave us an entertaining puzzle for the post Christmas period.

The completed grid is below.
