This seemed a very hard one to get in to, with six twelve-letter entries and a good handful of eights and nines. Solving time was therefore spent mostly on the first half of the clues. I may have been making unnecessarily heavy weather of things though, as of course everything seems quite clear with the benefit of hindsight!

    First let me apologise for probably posting this in the wrong place – but it’s the nearest I could find, and I am on a high because I just finished a Bbub! (quite an achievement for anyone, I reckon, and at the limit of my x-wording ability).
    Clearly this is a thread about Bbub 1052. Is it bad form to post about x-words where the competition is still open for entry? I’ll try to give away as little as poss.
    I’ve finished 1053, and it all makes sense, except for one clue!
    ……… But I have no idea whatsoever how that works with the rest of the clue. I mean, usually I get a sub part, and can then deduce the rest, but I’ve got no entry into this and it’s driving me crazy.
    Your thoughts?
