Good morning,
I hope it’s not in appropriate for me to post this here, but I have been approached by Mighty Productions regarding a pilot of a new quiz show, the current working title of which is Cryptic. All of the rounds are based on crossword clues, mostly cryptic. They are filming in Glasgow on Saturday, 17th June, and have had a late call-off. They are looking for someone who can be in Glasgow that day (times are yet to be confirmed, so someone local to the area would be preferable).
I took part in a run-through a few weeks ago to test the concept and it was good fun, so if anyone is willing to step in in place of their late call-off can they let me know as soon as possible. They are seeking help in other channels, so I can’t guarantee you’ll be needed. Your travel expenses will be covered and I believe there may be a small payment as well. I will be there, so if you’ve ever wanted to meet the grumpy blogger known as Loonapick, here’s your chance.
Loonapick
I would be up for this. As a native Glaswegian (and occasional moaner about homophone clues) it would minimise travel expenses.
Wilro05 @1 – I’ve just sent you an e-mail.
What a fun idea. Hope it gets to stream downunder …
grantinfreo@3 – think it may be a little niche, but they’re aiming at the “quizzy Monday” audience, i.e. those that watch University Challenge, Only Connect and Mastermind as they all seem to run concurrently over the winter and then there’s nothing of that calibre for a few months a year.
Is this going to be anything like Crosswits with Tom O’Connor? Sounds like it might be a tad more highbrow.
Remember, never a cross word!
Thanks for that reminder, Widdersbel. 😉
This sounds like fun – I’m one of those who find Mondays rather bleak during the summer.
And there’s a new TV comedy drama coming soon with David Mitchell playing a cryptic crossword setter who uses the pseudonym ‘Ludwig’.
Are cryptic crosswords about to become fashionable? ??
