Nice to see a fellow blogger from the Big Dave site here with a typically light and witty puzzle even if it did contain one of my pet hates, the ubiquitous “Scotsman” at 24d, and the chestnut at 12a.
I’d never heard of the expression at 29a but it’s a good clue and the fodder is a nice spot at 11a.
I liked several including ACHILLES TENDON, CHANDLERY, SCRUM, BAKERS and NOT BAD.
Many thanks to Shabbo and scchua.
I always enjoy Shabbo’s puzzles and this one was no exception – light and fun, with brief accurate clueing and smooth surfaces throughout.
I had many ticket clues with ACHILLES TENDON my favourite. It’s a great hook if you can have such a good clue in pole position.
Many thanks to Shabbo and to scchua.
I meant “ticked” @2. The T is not even adjacent to the D on the keyboard. 🙁
P.S. Where is everybody today? It’s a great puzzle which a lot of folk are missing out on.
Thank you, RD! ??
Having solved BAKERS and CHANDLERS, I was expecting to see “look” to make up the butchers, bakers and candlestick makers trio. I liked EASTER EGG in addition to favourites already noted above.
Thanks Shabbo and scchua. Enjoyed this, favourites include CHANDLERY and LIP READER.
Thanks Shabbo and scchua.
Loved this.
Rare to see so many straight charades.

Loved the pics and video insertions, so thanks to scchua for excellent blog
Thanks Shabbo. Failing to solve SWEEP and PROMISING, I did not find this as easy as others but I still liked this crossword quite a bit due to clues like ACHILLES TENDON, DRESS DOWN, SUDAN, IRONING, KAISERS, and OUIJA. Thanks scchua for the blog.
Almost forgot to comment today – been dealing with boiler problems for much of the day or should I say watching the heating engineer who was thankfully willing to turn out on a Sunday and deserved spoiling with cups of coffee!
So many potential favourites in this one – at least 12 clues with double ticks. Maybe ACHILLES TENDON & OLD MASTER have the edge.
Well done, Shabbo and thanks to scchua for the review.
