“In ten clues, part or all of the definition has had a letter added and the result jumbled, sometimes creating additional wordage. These clues need to be reconstructed before solving and then the ten extra letters arranged to describe how the answers to these clues are to be treated before (to complete the TRIPLE CHANGE) being entered at a different location in the grid. Chambers Dictionary (2016) is recommended.”
The ten added letters can be arranged to form ANAGRAMMED.
The ten thematic answers are treated as follows:
LIBRATE -> TRIABLE
HECTARE -> TEACHER
STRIPE -> SPRITE
CORSET -> COSTER
SCEPTRE -> SPECTRE
STILE -> ISTLE
PARENT -> ENRAPT
NECTAR -> RECANT
ALIEN -> ANILE
TEARS -> ASTER
The triple change for 11ac is therefore imposed -> poised, LIBRATE -> TRIABLE, 11ac -> 19ac.
I found this quite a workout. I don’t recall seeing the treatment of the definitions in any previous puzzles, but I don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of them.
‘Died in this place’ being D HERE was sneaky. I was sure it was going to be some form of obiit hic.
Certainly an enjoyable romp, though!

Blimey, a real mind-bender this one, with so many levels to try and remain on top of! I was fortunate to make an educated guess early on that the letters would spell ANAGRAMMED which was certainly a help but this was still a challenge right until the end. Very satisfied to have completed it, thanks Kruger.
