Nazi salutes refers to Musk too, doesn’t it? And that performance has caused Tesla stocks to fall. They’ve also been banned in Australia this month.
Does HARD LABOUR refer to some of the decisions made by Starmer etc al, cutting of foreign aid, supporting runways, oil refinery at Grangemouth (they have really trashed that £28 billion green prosperity pledge, but the runes were there before the election).
WASPI have raised a fund to sue the Labour Government, announced this month.
Thank you to Neo and Widdersbel.
Fairly easy for a Neo I thought although the topical references helped too of course.
Praise is due for making this a pleasure rather than the grim reading I feared would result.
Not convinced by your parse of POUSSIN Widders as i took Larry at number 10 to be PUSS but then of course I can’t see how else to get IN?
Podium spots for FAR RIGHT, GANG and DOGE for the excellent surfaces.
Thanks Neo and of course Widders.
Shanne – I’m sure you’re right. I admit I glossed over some of the topical references. It’s all too grim.
Blah – Best to read it as “at Number Ten” doubling up as both a hint as to which Larry you require, as well as a synonym for elected (IN).
Very busy day, so late to this, though solved early this morning. Wondered where it was last weekend – was there a note somewhere about a delay?
Like Blah, I, for once, wasn’t really looking forward to it but top marks to Neo for an excellent job in dire circumstances. Like Widdersbel, I especially appreciated the SNOWDROPS. I don’t really have the heart to refer to individual clues, apart from WASPI – all too depressing.
I do wish these puzzles attracted more responses, considering all the work that goes into setting and blogging within such tight time constraints. Huge thanks to Neo and Widdersbel for another superb team effort.
I do agree with Eileen about the disappointing response to these puzzles which I usually enjoy. So will take this opportunity to thank Neo and Widdersbel for their great work.
Last Sunday’s puzzle was a numbers one. They are not too difficult and great fun. I wonder how popular they are?
Thanks Widders and all who commented.
The News puzzle is scheduled once a month, for the last Sunday. Ish. I guess it depends where the days fall. Personally I think it about time we decimalised time, as all of this 24 hour, 31 day thing is plainly silly. And that Star Trek time thing was SO cool. Captain Slogg etc (inc Nemo taking a dump perhaps).
Thank you for observing that these puzzles can be tricky to set. This week for instance, the whole Zelenskyy ambush thing happened a couple of days too late to be referred to overtly, and not so long ago, m’colleague Leonidas had more or less to reset the whole shebang after Bobby Charlton (RIP) passed away (normally he just belted it) on a somewhat inconvenient day. As a result, we are currently negotiating a fee, commensurate with the extra strain, of £5,000 per puzzle. Mr Trump was immediately on the phone of course, saying that puzzle fees are a loan, not a grant, and should without further ado be ceded back to the Americans.
Cheers
Neo
