I received the following information from Balfour (a regular commenter)
Our esteemed blogger, flashling, has recently taken over and reopened The Ferry Boat Inn at Felixstowe in Suffolk. The pub closed last year when the previous landlord gave up the lease saying there was no future in pubs. It would be good if any participants on fifteensquared who live in the area or who might be visiting East Anglia during the summer were to go to the Ferry Boat and give flashling (and Mrs. flashling and their dog) their custom and support.
Very best of luck to Phil, Cathy and Jenny.
Below is a link to the current website where you’ll be able to find out where it is.
Thanks Ken, we should get the keys et al in the next few days and are aiming to open for the upcoming BH. I would love to host an S&B in the future.
Good luck! I hope we’ll be able to visit sometime – especially if you have Real Ale as Mr Guinevere will be very keen!
Oh yes we’ll have real ales🙂🍺🍺 how many depends on how busy we are.
Can I bring my dog?
We intend for it to be dog friendly with free dog treats.
Extol wife’s cooking at the Ferry Boat Inn here (10)
Fancy a bonfire? Try November – where the landlord loves a few fireworks (5,4,3)
Very best of luck to you and Kath Phil xx
Chippy (and I) are looking forward to seeing you there.
Good luck Flash et al.
How exciting – good luck Phil and Cathy! (and Jenny…)
@knut/Julius bravo sir!
It looks lovely! I don’t get to Suffolk as often as I used to but I hope to see you some time.
All the best for the opening! 🙂
Julius @6 – nice one!
Best of luck to Phil, Cathy and Jenny.
Rob/Julius@6 Very good indeed!
I will be there at some points in the future and no doubts about it!
– when is opening night?
– will you have a dartboard?
– will you serve awful lager?
– when will the S+B, er, be?
Keep us updated and best wishes for success- I can defo see both of you as landlord and lady so reckons you are on to a winner. 🙂
Harry!! Long time no see. Well, dartboard? Well not immediately, there’s a marked oche but the board itself is in a very very strange place behind a wall in the gents it seems, we’ll have lagers, how crap I can’t say. We’re aiming for opening being the Friday/Saturday for the upcoming May bank holiday. The S&B well all I can really say is give us a chance mate, let me get up and running. I’d love to hold one, we’ve got the space.
Behind a wall in the gents is where I tend to aim to score from usually, so sounds perfect. 👌
Glad there’ll be some awful lager as it’s the only kind I drink, as you no doubt already know. 🍻
I’ll do my best to be there for the weekend of the 26th and will check here for updates on things.
I also gots plenty of ideas to bring some custom to the place if you care to hear them when I’m there (and only one of them requires the auction of a stolen copy of Pratchett’s Guards, Guards!).
But enough ramble from me: you, missus and the dog are going to smash it and I look forward to updates and being served by/barred by you soon. 🍻
Wishing flashling (and Mrs. flashling) all the best with their new business venture!
Cool..!
Decent local cider!?
Good for you! I hope it all goes well, and should I ever be in the area I will certainly drop in (it’s hundreds of miles away, but you never know).
Best of luck with your new venture. Felixstowe is a long way from Northumberland., but should I have the misfortune to visit my younger daughter who lives in East Anglia I’ll call in for a non-alcoholic tipple.(I’m bound to be driving).
Delighted to hear this, as we will be in Felixstowe in June and will be sure to visit. It’s a great situation, I hope the venture goes well.
How are the opening plans going, Flashlings?
I be hoping to make it for the bank holiday if the boozer is green for go or sometime soon after if not if my or your circumstances change.
Enquiring minds want to know and also hope it is all going well and enjoyably stressful getting things off the ground. 🙂
