Found this enjoyable, lots of good stuff. Thanks to SCChua & Chandler.
Enjoyable puzzle but I couldn’t parse 13ac.
Excellent Quiptic completed in 30mins. Bunged in “mocking” without knowing where “mo’ came from. Thanks Chandler and Sochua.
Thanks scchua for your customary and always appreciated clear blog.
7 complete anagrams and 3 partials was a bit excessive I found. Did I read somewhere that the number of anagrams permitted in one crossword is restricted? Maybe not in the Guardian Quiptic.
Ticks for GET REAL and NO-HOPER. Favourite was POCKETS.
My faves: RUNNER-UP, SHELL OUT and GET REAL.
Thanks Chandler and Scchua.
I’ve been a long time lurker on this blog but wanted to say thanks to scchua for the blog and chandler for the puzzle. As a relative beginner I enjoyed that. All correct without assistance, but needed the blog for the correct parsing of 25d.
Thanks also to all the regular bloggers on this site, I’ve learned a huge amount from the helpful explanations on here.
Very enjoyable, thank you.
Thanks Scchua and Chandler for a nice puzzle with my morning coffee.
Chandler I don’t know how you source your images and if you have ever had a run in with the Press Association? They are currently asking a very small organisation, 40 members, of which I am secretary, to pay a license fee of £750 for a tiny image which has been on our web site for at least 10 years. We have no idea who put it there or that it was illegal. Perhaps you knew a fee was necessary but if not be careful.
Managed this with just a few checks and no reveals so was pleased with my effort today. So thank you Chandler for pitching it right for me. Still needed Scchuas helpful blog to parse a few (15&20 down I got from definition and letters already in ). But I think I’m very slowly improving and agree with Biscuits@6 so thank you !
COTD for me is 9d – starting with two possible anagrinds which are actually the fodder.

Thanks Chandler and scchua
Enjoyed this one a lot. Chandler seems to set crosswords at the appropriate level for me. A few I hadn’t parsed properly so Scchua’s explanation was helpful. A good day
An enjoyable solve apart fron not getting 7dn – we didn’t see ‘movement’ as an anagrind and wondered if there was a slow dance called a shake down; and as for reducing movement we thought that a shake down of a new machine etc might lead to all the loose bolts etc being tightened to reduce movement.. No problems otherwise although we took a while over GET REAL.
Thanks, Chandler and scchua.
Very enjoyable. Found I could work out all of these, so consider the setter was spot on with this grid for the Quiptic slot. Thanks Chandler and Sschua.
I liked SHELL OUT, TRENCH and STATUTE.
Thanks Chandler and scchua.
Great Quiptic and helpful blog. Thanks Chandler and scchua. I rather liked MOCKERY, TRENCH and HUMANE amongst many others.
I thought this was pitched really well for a Quiptic; accessible clues but also good fun and nice surfaces. paddymelon @4 I think a higher number of anagrams in a Quiptic is appropriate to give newer solvers some nice ways in 🙂
Completed, but hadn’t parsed GET REAL, POCKETS, or ELUDE, so the blog was very helpful.
Thanks S&B
Lots of reveals but very nice puzzle
